Having tried cases to juries and handled appeals in complex matters, Andy understands both the risks of litigation and the practical considerations that drive settlement decisions.

Andy was recently acknowledged as a D Best Mediator by D Magazine.

Legal career

For more than 35 years, Andy has served as a trusted advisor to companies and individuals throughout the country on a wide range of labor, employment, and commercial matters. His practice has included discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, class and collective actions, leaves of absence, employment agreements and policies, union campaigns, collective bargaining, unfair labor practices, workplace safety matters, restrictive covenants, trade secrets, commercial litigation, probate disputes, and eminent domain matters. Andy’s litigation experience is broad- based and national in scope. He has handled matters in state and federal courts throughout Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Florida, and Louisiana.

Following law school, Andy joined a prominent Little Rock law firm, where he became a partner in the firm’s Labor, Employment, and Health Law section. Early in his career, Andy regularly represented school districts, railroads, and improvement districts in eminent domain proceedings, handling both jury trials and appeals before the Arkansas Supreme Court. Andy also represented healthcare providers in reimbursement disputes involving both government and private payors. He represented providers seeking reimbursement from HCFA/CMS and private health insurance companies in matters involving coverage determinations, payment disputes, audits, and related healthcare litigation and administrative proceedings. That experience gives him a practical understanding of the operational, financial, and regulatory pressures affecting healthcare-related disputes.

In 1998, he became a shareholder in a Dallas-based boutique labor and employment firm, which later merged into an international labor and employment practice. He later served as a named partner in a Dallas litigation boutique, expanding his practice into commercial and probate litigation before returning to his labor and employment practice in 2008.

During his career in Big Law, Andy became one of the go-to trial lawyers for his internationally recognized labor and employment firm. In later years, he headed the firm’s Texas Restrictive Covenants Practice Group, where he built a significant practice litigating non-compete and trade secret disputes and regularly represented companies and individuals in injunction proceedings.

For many years, Andy has been recognized by his peers in Best Lawyers in America for his work in labor and employment law.
